9/18 from the line. That’s the game right there.

Well this was arguably the most up and down season under Altman. Definitely disappointed in the effort after the great start but still fun to see this team in the tourney. Curious to see who comes back and what this team looks like next season but I’m definitely unsure about the future of Oregon basketball at its current state. Hopefully Mullens finds a way to get fan involvement and excitement for Oregon basketball.

That demonstration of free throw shooting was really bad.

9-18 from the line. Not going to win a lot of games in March if you can’t shoot FTs. Hope Altman can get some real quality in the portal.

Worst part was this was the best free throw shooting teams they’ve had in years and shot 77% as a team during the season. Just randomly unraveled in this game. Of all the things to happen, that was the one I didn’t expect. Guess Altman can focus on the portal that randomly opens tomorrow.

Tell me it’s not a ***** move to foul up 3 on multiple possessions? Congrats, AZ. You won a game of horse. I get it when a team is behind, but what a scared, cheap way to end a team’s season.

Oof, that was not enjoyable to watch. Both teams tried to give that one away. Oregon at the foul line (and a couple of awful inbounds passes), Arizona making multiple mental errors throughout the second-half. Ducks got them in foul trouble early but didn't stay aggressive. I thought the alertness on defense, whether coaching or players, was subpar as they continued to allow Caleb Love to walk into his shots; it wasn't until the very end they finally trapped him and forced him to pass.
It's never one play that determines the outcome of the game, but goodness, with a chance to tie, down two, Bamba goes 1-on-1 and forces up a tough attempt in the lane when Shelstad and Bittle had it going ... again, I don't know if that was the play Altman drew up or T.J. decided to go solo, but that was the chance to put even more pressure on Arizona and we let them off.
Not upset, however. This team had a clear ceiling this year and frankly, I'm glad we don't have to run into that Buzzsaw from Durham, NC.

As a fan of the game, it sucks. As a coach, it's absolutely 100% the right move and, had the shoe been on the other foot, we'd be begging for Altman to do the same.whosyourwally wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 9:28 pm Tell me it’s not a ***** move to foul up 3 on multiple possessions? Hate seeing the season end with them shooting their worst FT percentage and not getting a rebound when they needed (flashbacks to Jordan Bell in the 2017 Final Four.) Oregon needed to get Shelstad an open look on the possession that instead went to Bamba missing a tough jumper in the lane.
Should be interesting what the team looks like next season. They've got to get a bonafide 3rd scorer behind Shelstad and hopefully Bittle. Evans, Phillips, and Cook have to keep developing. Need to find some athletic wings who can shoot consistently. Also need to get a post or two who can provide solid minutes behind Bittle and Evans.

Almost like I was watching the women's team play.
This was close, but not enough smart decisions when they needed it. And free throws. wow.
So frustrating.

More than this team was missing anything tangible, it seemed like they just didnt have that clutch player who they could lean on to find them momentum when they needed it. An answer for a Caleb Love. Shelstad was that about as often he disappeared. Here’s to hoping he takes the Pritchard career arc rather than the Richardson one.

This fouling exploit drives me crazy, and I can't believe it hasn't been patched yet. It's wild to me that a team that's ahead can literally foul its way to victory. There is no way this scenario was ever intended to be part of the game.Tell me it’s not a ***** move to foul up 3 on multiple possessions? Congrats, AZ. You won a game of horse. Willie Taggart is a dick.

Sounds like Oregon will for sure have Shelstad, Evans, Tracey, and Phillips returning. It feels like Bittle is leaning towards coming back. Probably expect Cook, Lindsay, and the Ukrainian project to be back as well. With only one recruit for sure coming in, they'll be major players in the portal. Losing now may actually help them get a jump on some top transfers.

Exactly, Arizona's coach wasn't worried when Katz asked him about Oregon's fast start. 10 minutes after being down 19-4, Oregon's momentum was gone, Arizona was ahead, 31-30. It had seemed like the Ducks weren't getting many shots from the free throw line, turns out they'd had one, an "and 1" that Evans missed, Foreshadowing?whosyourwally wrote: Sun Mar 23, 2025 9:55 pm More than this team was missing anything tangible; it seemed like they just didn't have that clutch player who they could lean on to find them momentum when they needed it.
