Coach Dana has pulled off quite a feat here, almost completely scrapping a team and rebuilding on the fly. It will likely take awhile for them all to learn to play together, but it looks like a decent assortment of talent and maybe better shooting than we have had lately.
Ooph! Hard to judge a man in 12 games though! He was shooting 45% FG and 36% 3PT in his first two years.

Payne's shooting percentages are pretty bad. Career 38 Fg 31 3pt. Also, 1.9 career APG is hardly a PG.

But at this point you gotta imagine Jasper Johnson and Fred Payne might be it at PG for us.

In terms of expected minutes, I'm seeing:
PG: Fred Payne, Jasper Johnson, Jerry Easter
SG: Tyrone Riley, Jasper Johnson, Jerry Easter, Seven Spurlock
SF: Andrew Meadow, Trevor Ariza, Seven Spurlock
PF: Sean Stewart, Pharaoh Compton, Trevor Ariza
C: Taylor Bol Bowen, Pharaoh Compton

Still need one more PF/C.

This past season was Payne's first year as a starter. His previous two seasons at BC involved him being a RS his true FR season and then a backup playing roughly 18 minutes a game in 2024-25. His averages all improved from his RS FR to his RS SO season except his 3PT and FT percentages. Given the expected talent around him at Oregon compared to BC, he should be fine.

Most the overseas guys we got, I expect small school options for them like this.

Crazy that they were able to land Arizona F Dwayne Aristode with no one knowing they were even after him. If either he or Jasper Johnson can live up to the hype they had coming out of HS, Oregon might have a sneaky good team with how much positional versatility and potential scoring punch they now have. The talent level for this upcoming season is so much higher than it was last season.

Yeah, there is a lot of young talent in this transfer class. Lot of length and athleticism. The ceiling is definitely really high, but also what could be a low floor. I would really like one more true guard/ball handler. One true C as well.

We for sure need another ball handler and big. Payne isnt a true PG either. He is more of a combo guard. We really need a ball handler still.

So we now have 11 guys excluding walkons and Harrison. I imagine we'll still add another guy or two. But it's possible we are done with the portal too. There's a good amount of high school guys still left.

I saw we’re still after Ugochukwu and potentially another PF/C.

Ugochukwu wants to start from everything I've read, so don't think he's gonna start when we got Jasper, Easter, and Payne. There's other options that have a wide open spot for him. We'll see though! I was a little surprised we got Aristode because SF/PF was pretty stacked already. So while I doubt we get him, you never know...

I mean, Ugochukwu is better than Payne and would likely start over Payne. jasper and Easter are not PG’s. So I think he would start.

Interesting if they are still after Ugochukwu. I assumed when they signed Payne that they had to pick one (or only one picked them), since both were after a starting job. Payne will have to be more of a distributor on this team than he was last year as the clear cut leader in a less-talented group. His scoring will likely go down and assists will go up compared to his career stats. His turnovers don't seem too high, so maybe he is a better ball-handler than he is getting credit for in this thread.

An extra ball handler and a rim protector would still be nice on this team. The nice thing for the coaches is that they don't have to press as hard now; they can be picky in filling the last few spots.

I dont doubt that, but I’m sure those guys signed here to get minutes, not all come off bench and play few minutes.
