Don't any of these D linemen bother to look at depth charts? Is there something I am not understanding here? If you were a 4-5 star DT looking at the serious lack of depth UO has, along with a realistic chance to play a lot and early (maybe even start) on another possible run for the roses....WTF is the problem? Is it the coaches recruiting the DT's or what? Anyone have any idea?

I don't think theres any real rhyme or reason. Just bad luck. Its not like we've had trouble getting them to commit before. Its just been last year & so far this year.

And really, people just need to calm down. If this continues through next year then yeah, theres a problem. If the guys we had committed could actually read & write (Wade, Fili, Thompson) we would have a dominant Dline right now. Like always, things will be fine. I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up w a high rated DT in this class & a couple more next year.

The problem they are having in getting high-level DTs is similar to the problems the Ducks had in getting top RB and LB prospects. With RBs, it was Jonathon Stewart and Jeremiah Johnson who broke the streak of missing out on RBs and ever since we seem to be able to attract some good talent there. The futility in getting good LBs, IMO, ended with the 2007 class that included Casey Matthews. Ever since that class, we seem to get at least 2 LBs that can possibly contribute at a significant level.

We got Haloti back in the day, who was a 5 star. People forget, we've had at least two 5 star DT's become academically ineligible that are now playing for different teams in different conferences. Like Myles Wade and JT Thompson. These guys would be tearing it up for us right now had they been eligible. Woulda, coulda, shoulda, I know... just saying.

Justin Thompson had one start for a 1-10 Memphis team and had 18 tackles in 8 games. Myles Wade was a redshirt at Texas Tech. Neither one has done anything to show they "would be tearing it up for us right now had they been eligible".

They are young. We don't know right now, but they were highly rated recruits, just like the ones we are raving about now that we hope we get. Just bad luck not signing them. Also, some say CK fired our old D-line coach because he spent too much time on Wade and JT, and had nothing to fall back on when they didn't work out. Which is why Oregon has abandoned Uko.

Myles wade was the tough one to miss #8 tackle at the time and a four star. The struggles he had to go through just to graduate from Community College were ridiculous and while I wish he could be a duck....I have nothing but admiration for him being able to get back into D-1 football. Simi Fili, who was rated just as high was probably going to under perform where ever he went.....he just didn't like football and it showed when he gained a ton of weight in college and is out of football. Justin Thompson was a crap shoot from the beginning and concerns about his ability to qualify just got worse as the year went on. Academics are a huge part of the equation during recruiting and I think the staff learned after the Fili and Wade Debacle. Out of three Wade would probably be the best .

It would help in getting better DT talent to come to Oregon if we had a better DC, both in recruiting in coaching. Oregon is known as a team with a high powered offense and a not so good defense. Most of these kids want to go to a school where they will be nationally recognized and have a coach that can develop them for the next level.

Not sure who Elvis is, but if that is really a family member.... makes you think he may end up in LSU. Who knows though. We'll find out in a few days.
